Let’s ring in 2011 with a run! The West Kentucky Runners Club in Paducah will have a 10K group run at 6 a.m., Jan. 1, 2011, beginning at the floodwall at Jefferson Street in downtown Paducah. The timing clock will be set up to record results.
Another possible group run for you to consider is a 7-mile run from Benton, Ky., beginning at 7 a.m. at the Cheers convenience store at the corner of the bypass and Mayfield Highway. Runners will run south to Hardin to meet for pancakes. There usually are several runners who participate in this fun run for the pancakes!
In middle Tennessee, the Clarksville Running Club will run at 10 a.m., Jan. 1 at the Ashland City Rails to Trails. If you want to carpool, meet at the R3 store on Madison Street at 9:30 a.m. Some members are training for an upcoming half-marathon and will run between 6 to 8 miles. For those training for a full marathon, 9 to 11 miles and all others can run any distance they wish to kick off the new year!
If you’re ready to race to jumpstart 2011, there is the 5K Resolution Run, 10 a.m., Jan. 1 beginning on Demonbreun Street, Nashville, Tenn. http://resolutionrun.ucpmidtn.org/
Whatever venue you decide, have a fun and safe run!
Happy Running — and Run Happy!
